Here’s to a Happy and Healthy 2019

New Year’s resolutions are so easy to make and even easier to break. That said, NXG Trust’s New Year’s resolution is to continue to build on what we bring to the local community. Perhaps the best way to apppreciate this is to look backover over the past year to see what, by working together in the community, we have enabled:

– 185 local residents achieved level 2 certificates in CV enhancing and work related subjects. – 69 people who speak English as a second language attended regular classes and achieved English qualifications. – 100 people developed their IT and digital skills, and 44 completed EDCC certification – 47 people were supported into employment. – 50 people were supported to develop their CV. – 40 children took part in our Wildly fun Summer Skills School for two weeks in the school holidays. – Over 600 people had fun and quality family time at one of our popular family learning focussed community events. – 200 Year 5 and Year 6 pupils from three local primary schools learnt about the risks of carrying knives, developed strategies around how to react and learnt emergency first aid. – 15 families on average attended each of our three under fives stay and play sessions each week. – Over 60 young people visited new places and tried out new activities through a wide range of summer youth activities with grants from NXG Trust. – We received at least 1762 volunteer hours to help us maintain and develop the beautiful Besson St Community Garden. – At least 6 other community groups have used our space for free to deliver their own community activities. – 32 local residents have built new social networks, learnt new skills and created crafts in our weekly sewing classes. – 8 people completed an 8 week Mindfulness course – 5 students gained their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award and 23 young people received employment and training related advice and guidance, via Somerville, with NXG Trust funding. – we also funded weekly drop-in welfare advice sessions through 170 Community Project, and weekly IT support sessions at New Cross Learning.

Make it your New Year’s resolution to get involved.
